Calorize is not about shame. And not about punishing yourself with food.

Calorize started as an answer to a simple but painful problem: most nutrition tools either boil everything down to “count calories” or make people feel guilty about their body, appetite, and struggles.

We do it differently.

Our manifest

Our manifest

  • We don’t believe people “slip up” because they’re weak.
  • We don’t believe it’s equally easy for everyone to stay in a deficit.
  • We don’t believe eating struggles are solved by “just eat less and move more”.

Because reality is more complex.

Some people have a strong appetite. Some have intrusive thoughts about food. Some deal with overeating, fatigue, chaotic routines, emotional exhaustion, or years of failed attempts to “get a grip”. And none of that is a reason for shame.

Calorize doesn’t scold. Doesn’t lecture. Doesn’t stigmatize.

We want people to see themselves and their behaviour more clearly — without humiliation, without myths, and without self-flagellation.

Why we built this

Why Calorize exists

Calorize began with a personal need.

I was looking for an app that was at the same time:

  • accurate
  • easy to use
  • clear
  • not childishly gamified
  • flexible enough for real life

Each time, something was off. Somewhere the interface looked great but the logic was weak. Somewhere tracking worked but recipes didn’t. Somewhere the app felt like it was looking down on you.

So it became clear: we needed a tool that doesn’t just count calories, but helps a person understand what is actually going on with them.

That’s how Calorize came to be.

How the product evolved

Where we’ve arrived

At first, Calorize was about accurate, convenient tracking.

Over time we saw what many people feel intuitively: the problem isn’t always knowledge. Not always discipline. Not even always motivation.

Very often the issue is appetite, food noise, life context, exhaustion, environment, habits, and how much mental space food takes up.

That’s why Calorize is evolving beyond a simple calorie counter. We’re moving toward a system that helps you:

  • track what you eat
  • see patterns
  • understand your appetite
  • work with reality — not a fantasy of “perfect willpower”

What we believe

What we believe

Accuracy matters.

Without it, there is no clarity.

Context matters.

The same advice doesn’t work the same way for everyone.

Appetite matters.

You can’t honestly talk about weight and food while ignoring how hard it really is for a person.

Tracking should help, not humiliate.

Data is for understanding — not self-punishment. Lasting change doesn’t start with shame. It starts with honesty, clarity, and support.

We are Lialia and Uliana Sakhno.

Calorize is an independent Ukrainian product we grow ourselves. Behind it is not a big corporation or a faceless wellness brand, but real work, experience, mistakes, rethinking, and a lot of attention to detail.

We make Calorize the way we’d want to use it ourselves: smart, honest, precise, and human.
